This deliverable describes two pilots performed by TNO-ESI together with Cordis and Additive Industries, for enhancing computer-aided design for low-code development, by applying synthesis. Specifying low-code (Cordis SUITE) models in a way to guarantee necessary safety/user requirements is difficult.
We present a method to identify the parameters of a state space model for a maxplus linear system based on the data from input-output sequences. This method is based on modeling the system as a mixed-integer program. We show that this method is computationally more efficient compared to existing methods, given the assumption that the system and data are not corrupted by noise.

Obtaining Insights Into the Interplay Between Systems and Software Engineering

published_in
2023 ACM/IEEE International Conference on Model Driven Engineering Languages and Systems Companion (MODELS-C), pp. 87-88.
The high-tech equipment industry is adopting approaches like Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) to improve their practices. Instantiations of these approaches do not necessarily align across disciplines. Given the importance of software aspects in systems, the interplay between software and other engineering disciplines should be carefully addressed.
With software permeating our world, modern software systems grow both in size (e.g., lines of code, number of software artefacts) and complexity. Logs produced by software systems during execution are regularly the first and only information used by software engineers to comprehend the behaviour of these complex systems and to repair software faults.

Tutorial measuring and modeling system performance

Performance is a key system level property. Performance, too, is affected by the myriad of decisions and choices in the development and configuration of both hardware and software components. This tutorial focuses on measuring and modeling system performance. We will discuss computer hardware architectures and execution architectures, the sofware design concepts for the dynamic behavior of the system.

Validating a Workflow Design Space Exploration methodology

When designing a system, one would like to have early information on how well a system design addresses stakeholder needs and concerns. Design Space Exploration (DSE) involves exploring the design space for system design candidates, including variants of specific system design aspects. For this, quantitative information on various system aspects is desired.
In this report, we summarize a selection of articles from the state-of-the-art in the domain of environmental sustainability and circularity (ESC). In particular, we focus on (1) frameworks connecting business goals and system architect’s technical decisions and (2) design principles for product design.
